Committee set up to probe the error
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) was forced to postpone the Class 12th annual examination on Wednesday after the candidates were mistakenly given question papers of Class 11th across the Union Territory (UT).
The BOSE will investigate the circumstances that led to such a mistake, officials said.
The Class 12th students were mistakenly given question papers of Physical Education meant for Class 11th due to packaging error, the officials said.
The BOSE subsequently decided to postpone today’s Class 12th examination across the UT.
The Physical Education paper has been cancelled, and a new date will be announced soon, the official said.
Meanwhile, later in the day the government constituted a committee to inquire into the matter of distribution of wrong question papers.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of the committee, comprising Director School Education. Kashmir and Director School Education, Jammu,” reads an order issued in this regard.
It said the committee shall inquire into the incident of wrong distribution of 11th class question papers to 12th class students appearing in the Board examination by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education. It shall look into circumstances of the cancellation of the examination and fix responsibility for negligence at supervisory/administrative level.
“The committee shall co-opt any Chief Education Officer (as required)/other officer and submit its findings/report within seven days,” the order says.
