JAMMU, JUNE 11: State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI-J) organized five days training programme from 04 to 08 June, on “Extension Methodology for IPM in Horticulture Crops” in collaboration with Extension Education Institute, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India CSS, Haryana Agriculture University, Nilokheri (Karnal), 2018.

34 participants from Agriculture, Horticulture Department and SAMETI-Jammu attended the training programme.

Director SAMETI-J/Extension, Dr. K.S. Risam while inaugurating the training programme emphasized for effective awareness among farmers about “Extension Methodology for IPM In Horticulture Crops”.

Dean FOA SKUAST-J Chatha, Dr. D.P. Abrol emphasised on importance of plant protection for better production of fruits and vegetables and Dr. Rakesh Nanda Professor & Head, Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Dr. P.S. Slathia Professors Div. of Extension Education delivered lectures on extension talk, concept, importance and different components of IPM and adopting IPM in Horticulture Crops.

Other experts Dr. Virender Koul, Dr. Kamlesh Bali, Dr. Prashant Bakshi, Dr. Kiran Kour and Dr. Srivastava delivered lectures on IPM on vegetable and fruits for reducing use of pesticide and health hazards, horticulture-based production system in India and its diversification, drip Irrigation in Horticulture Crops to save 50% irrigation water as water use efficiency in drip irrigation is more than other conventional techniques.

Dr. S.R. Verma and Dr. Jasvinder Kaur Assistant Professor Extension Education institute CSS Haryana Agriculture University, Nilokheri (Karnal) deliberated on Extension Methodology for IPM, Time and Stress Management in Extension personnel and recall sessions.

The participants were also given exposure to High Tech Polyhouse at village Mandal where progressive farmer Kuldeep Sharma has grown Cucumber, Marigold and fruit nursery of Horticulture Department.
