New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is all set to unveil the schedule for the highly anticipated 2024 Lok Sabha elections and several state assemblies.

The ECI has confirmed that the unveiling will be broadcast live on its official social media platforms, ensuring accessibility and transparency in the electoral process.

With the political landscape buzzing with activity, the ECI has scheduled a press conference at 3 pm tomorrow to disclose the much-awaited schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Citizens across the nation can tune in to the live-streamed event on the ECI’s social media channels to witness the unveiling firsthand.

Alongside the Lok Sabha elections, details regarding state assembly elections slated for 2024 will also be divulged during the press conference.

States including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Haryana, and Maharashtra are poised for electoral action this year, intensifying the focus on the upcoming announcements.

Furthermore, in response to a directive from the Supreme Court of India, the central government has been tasked with conducting Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30, 2024.

The Election Commission is expected to provide insights into the scheduling for these states as well, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the forthcoming electoral plans.

With the current term of the Lok Sabha concluding on June 16, the imperative to constitute a new House before this deadline adds a layer of urgency and importance to the upcoming electoral announcements.

In a parallel development, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu assumed their roles as Election Commissioners in the Election Commission of India office today.

Welcoming the newly appointed commissioners at Nirvachan Sadan, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the critical role they would play in the forthcoming electoral process.

Gyanesh Kumar and Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, both officers from the 1988 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise from their respective cadres in Kerala and Uttarakhand.

Their official appointment as Election Commissioners, as per the Gazette notification published on March 14, 2024, marks a pivotal moment in India’s electoral history.

The primary responsibility of the newly appointed election commissioners will be to ensure the seamless and successful conduct of the general elections in 2024.

Following tomorrow’s announcement by the ECI, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into effect, heralding the official commencement of the electoral process and setting the stage for a participatory democratic exercise.
