Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
He said at Kurigam crossing Qazigund, police intercepted and later arrested one Riyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar of Churat Qazigund, and recovered 4.2 Kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance from his possession.
At a checkpoint at Pariwan Gadihama in Kulgam, one Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Qadir Ganie of Pariwan was arrested after 270 grams of cannabis-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
In Budgam, at Chewdara Crossing, one Ishfaq Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Rasool Malik of Chewdara Beerwah, was arrested after five slices of cannabis-like substance weighing about 87 grams was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
