Despite frantic efforts from locals to contain the blaze, it quickly spiralled out of control, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The inferno, suspected to have originated from a short circuit, mercilessly devoured garments worth lakhs of rupees and various other merchandise. Witnesses recount harrowing scenes of locals bravely attempting to douse the flames, but to no avail, as the fire raged uncontrollably, shattering hopes and dreams along with the shop’s infrastructure.

Thanks to the prompt response of the Baramulla fire service station, bolstered by reinforcements from the Sheeri police station and the Army’s 46 RR, a further catastrophe was averted. Their coordinated efforts not only prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops within the shopping complex near the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch in Sheeri but also saved countless livelihoods from being consumed by the inferno.

An investigation into the cause of the fire commenced under the jurisdiction of the Sheeri police station.
