JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today asserted that Jammu and Kashmir is undergoing a huge transformation following the historic abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

“The decisive and bold step, as per the BJP’s manifesto, has opened a new chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and has paved the way for unprecedented development, prosperity, and peace,” Rana said while addressing Senior Citizens Sammelan, organized by the party’s Senior Citizen Cell.

Among others, the Convenor of the Cell Mr J. D Singh besides Co-Convenors Subash Gupta and A. K Mahajan (Retd SSP) were present in the Sammelan.

Lauding the visionary leadership of Yashasvi Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rana said Jammu and Kashmir is already on a transformational journey since the repeal of Article 370 and Article 35A and is now witnessing unprecedented progress across various sectors, including infrastructure, economy, education, and governance with thrust on investments, which are pouring in immense measure. He said the repeal of the special status has removed barriers to investment and development, allowing the region to fully integrate with the rest of the country emotionally, socially and economically.

As a result of concerted and continued efforts, the huge potential of the Union Territory is being harnessed optimally. While the people of all the segments, especially those marginalized are deriving dividends of various welfare schemes, the past nearly five years stand testimony to a fillip in infrastructure projects— roads, bridges, utility schemes, smart city projects, health and educational wherewithal and airports. All these projects are being executed at an accelerated pace, connecting remote areas and enhancing accessibility for residents and tourists alike. He referred to a record influx of pilgrim and adventure tourism and said that more than two crores of them thronged the Union Territory last year.

Devender Rana said the infrastructural development is not only enhancing much-needed connectivity but also stimulating economic growth and creating employment opportunities for the local population. He also referred to the various other initiatives aimed at boosting tourism, promoting entrepreneurship, and revitalizing traditional industries, which are being rolled out to harness the natural beauty and cultural richness of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Khushal Jammu Kashmir is overtaking the era of hopelessness, with all segments of society marching towards progress and development as per the Prime Minister’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Priyas,” Devender Rana said, adding that all the sectors are witnessing a resurgence.

Rana said that the commitment of the BJP to reach out to the last person in the society has gained momentum with the Prime Minister himself monitoring the pace of development and implementation of various welfare schemes. The efforts made in recent years have manifested in a peaceful and inclusive environment where all sections of the people are enjoying the benefits of peace. He said the post-abrogation era has sparked a new dawn for Jammu and Kashmir.
