Indian Army facilitates life-saving medical assistance for 9-year-old Burhan

Srinagar: In a heartwarming display of compassion and coordinated effort, the Indian Army’s Dagger Division has facilitated life-saving medical assistance for Master Burhan, a 9-year-old student at Dagger Parivaar School in Baramulla, Kashmir.

Born on August 31, 2015, Burhan was diagnosed with a critical cardiac condition, and his family’s limited financial means presented a significant obstacle to accessing necessary medical treatment. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Indian Army’s Dagger Division swiftly intervened to provide assistance.

Under the guidance of Dr. Tariq Rashid, a cardiologist at Government Medical College, Baramulla, Burhan underwent an initial assessment on December 22, 2023. Dr. Rashid recommended a catheterization study and subsequent heart surgery, highlighting the need for advanced medical facilities available in Delhi. The Indian Army collaborated closely with medical experts from the Indian Army and the Indrani Balan Foundation, Pune, to arrange for Burhan’s treatment at the Army Hospital Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantt, overcoming logistical challenges and associated expenses.

The successful outcome of Burhan’s surgery serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army to provide humanitarian aid and ensure access to vital medical care for those in need. This remarkable demonstration of solidarity and support reaffirms the Indian Army’s dedication to serving the community and upholding values of compassion and service.

PRO (Defence), Srinagar, commended the efforts of the Indian Army’s Dagger Division, highlighting their exemplary role in facilitating Burhan’s medical treatment and underscoring their commitment to humanitarian assistance.
