Srinagar, Jun 10: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today visited the ongoing exhibition of Islamic art objects and rare Quranic manuscripts being held at Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar these days.
On the occasion, Minister for Public Works & Culture, Naeem Akhtar briefed the Chief Minister about the artifacts put on display.
A large number of rare documents representing various artistic forms of Quranic Calligraphy and Vellum panels have been displayed in the exhibition.
The Chief Minister, who is also the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, evinced keen interest in the manuscripts put on display and directed taking measure for their proper upkeep and maintenance.
She complimented the Academy for successfully organizing the Ramazan programmes across the state and also for its efforts to preserve, promote and maintain the cultural leanings of the society.
Mehbooba Mufti appealed people to come forward and donate pieces of art and heritage to the Academy so that the same are preserved for and shared with posterity.
Vice-president JKAACL, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas; Commissioner-Secretary, Culture, Saleem Shishgar; Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini; Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Muneer-ul-Islam; Director, Libraries, Mussarat-ul-Islam; Convener INTACH, Muhammad Saleem Beg and a large number of art lovers were present on the occasion.
