Secretary HM&E assesses healthcare services at GMC Anantnag

Seeks feedback from patients

ANANTNAG: Secretary Health and Medical Education (HM&E), Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, today visited Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag and Rehmat Aalam Hospital, MCH to assess the healthcare services being extended to the ailing there.

He had an extensive round of all the wards of the hospitals to take stock of the diagnostic and treatment facilities being made available to the patients in these healthcare institutes. He also interacted with the patients and their attendants seeking feedback on the status of the medical services being provided to them.

Deputy Commissioner, S F Hamid and Director of Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather besides other senior officers accompanied the Secretary.

During the visit, the Secretary assessed the current state of healthcare infrastructure and services at GMC Anantnag, focusing on patient care, infrastructure, medical equipment and overall operational efficiency of the hospital.

Interacting with the doctors and other staff, Dr Abid Rasheed exhorted upon them to ensure that their medical facilities meet the highest standards and we are able to provide effective healthcare services to the community. He emphasized upon the doctors to commit to enhancing the quality of medical services in the hospital. He called upon the medical professionals to conduct thorough rounds in the hospital for efficient management of patients.

The Secretary conducted rounds of the hospital visiting the patient wards, emergency wards, MRI lab, radiation oncology lab and other related infrastructure to assess each facility systematically.

Later, the Secretary also chaired a meeting with the administration of GMC and Associated Hospitals to review progress on several major development projects being executed there.

The Secretary also held a detailed meeting with the Principal GMC, CMO, Chief Engineer, PWD, Head of Department of different departments of GMC, Medical Superintendents of GMC and its Associated Hospitals, Executive Engineers of all wings and other concerned officers.

Addressing the officers during the meeting, Dr Abid called upon them to work with zeal and zest so that the GMC Anantnag emerges as best best-performing health institution across J&K. He called upon the administration of GMC and Associated Hospitals to maintain absolute cohesion and teamwork among all agencies as well as medical professionals so that improved medical care facilities are provided to the public.

The Secretary emphasized upon all to maintain punctuality and a sincere work culture in the hospital which is a pre-requisite to meet the expectations of the people. He asked the Principal GMC to focus on innovative research in the institute.
