Governor and First Lady visit Mega Exhibition of Islamic Art Objects and Rare Quranic Manuscripts

SRINAGAR, JUNE 9: Governor N.N. Vohra and First Lady Usha Vohra, visited the Mega Exhibition of Islamic Art Objects and Rare Quranic Manuscripts being showcased at Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar. Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Culture was present on the occasion.

This 5 day exhibition (7th -11th June) has been organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages in collaboration with the  Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Directorate of Tourism, Directorate of Libraries, INTACH, Kashmir Chapter, Shasvat Art Gallery, Peerzada Collection and Hakim Collection. A large number of rare documents representing various artistic forms of Quranic Calligraphy and Vellum panels have been displayed in the exhibition.

Governor and First Lady evinced keen interest in the rare documents and artefacts on display and appreciated the exhibits for their artistic quality and high historical value. Governor observed that such exhibitions enabled the people at large to become aware of their rich cultural heritage.

Aziz Hajini, Secretary JKAACL, Muneer-ul-Islam, Director Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Saleem Beg, Convener INTACH were among those present on the occasion.
