Gulmarg: Many skiers caught in an avalanche that hit the Gulmarg resort today were saved by the locals, reports said.

Quoting officials, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that two avalanches occurred at Affarwat in Gulmarg, causing panic. However, a group of local skiers drawing on their knowledge of the terrain and expertise in rescue risked their lives to save others.

The official stated that their swift response played a crucial role in locating and freeing many skiers who were trapped under the snow.

A police officer confirmed that all tourists are accounted for and safe, the news agency reported.

Pertinently, this is the third avalanche reported in the hills of Gulmarg in the last one week.
