72nd All India Police Hockey Championship

Jammu: The seventh day of the 72nd All India Police Hockey Championship witnessed intense quarter-final clashes at the Police Hockey Stadium in Jammu. Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the championship has been running from 29th January to 08th February 2024.

MATCH NO. 28 (1ST QUARTER FINAL): CISF VS. JAMMU AND KASHMIR POLICE

In a thrilling encounter between the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CISF emerged victorious with a commanding 5-1 scoreline. Yograj Singh, wearing JR.No.03, stole the spotlight with a remarkable performance, scoring the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd goals. Dheeraj Vats (JR.No.99) and Vishal Jit Singh (Jr. No. 09) contributed the 2nd and 4th & 5th goals, respectively. Yograj Singh was rightfully named the Player of the Match for his outstanding display. The Chief Guest for the match was Vijay Kumar, IPS ADGP Armed and Law & Order, J&K.

MATCH NO. 29 (2ND QUARTER-FINAL): UTTAR PRADESH POLICE VS. BSF

The clash between Uttar Pradesh Police and Border Security Force (BSF) saw BSF emerge victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. Harminder Singh (JR.No.02) and Daljit Singh (JR.No.12) scored the winning goals. Daljit Singh was declared the Player of the Match for his brilliant performance. Kulbir Singh, SSP CO IRP-18TH Bn, graced the match as the Chief Guest.

MATCH NO. 30 (3RD QUARTER-FINAL): ITBP VS. CRPF

A nail-biting encounter between Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ended in a draw at 4-4. CRPF secured the win via a shootout. Saroj Ekka (JR.No.04), Mohd Wasiullah Khan (JR.No.10), and Samsher (JR.No.12) were the goal-scorers for CRPF, while M C Meetei (JR.No.32) and Ankit (JR.No.21) shone for ITBP. Samsher was named the Player of the Match, and Vivekananda Rai, IRS Director of Tourism Jammu, was the Chief Guest.

MATCH NO. 31 (4TH QUARTER-FINAL): PUNJAB POLICE VS. WEST BENGAL POLICE

Punjab Police dominated West Bengal Police with an impressive 10-0 victory. Kanwarjeet Singh (JR.No.25) stole the show with goals in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th positions. Varinder Singh (JR.No.22), Sarbjit Singh (JR. NO.20), Pawandeep Singh (Jr. No. 15), Hardeep Singh (JR No. 03), and Jagmeet Singh (JR No. 11) also contributed to the comprehensive win. Kanwarjeet Singh was rightfully named the Player of the Match, and Mohammad Hanif, Chief Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The championship continues to showcase top-notch hockey talent, and the anticipation for the remaining matches is at an all-time high.
