Srinagar: A private weather forecaster, Faizan Arif (@Weather_Kashmir) has predicted a possible light to moderate snowfall over high reaches of Kashmir under the influence of first Western Disturbance.

He posted on X that on Jan 25, nothing significant is expected, however, a snow shower can occur at one or two places in higher reaches. Similarly, a minor spell of snow is expected in a few places in higher reaches on Jan 26.

He said the second Western Disturbances are expected from 28 January to 30th January, which may cause moderate snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.

On 27th Jan, nothing significant is expected, though a couple of models are hinting of a spell of rain/snow in a few areas towards evening/night, he posted on X

He posted that on Jan 28, there is possibility of commencement of the next spell towards evening or during the late night and on Jan 29, again there is possibility of light to moderate rain/snow in some parts of Jammu & Kashmir.

Moderate snowfall can occur in some higher reaches.

Weather models are not indicating any major spell of snowfall this time in the plains, especially for central and south Kashmir plains.

He posted that conditions for 31st Jan are being monitored. There have been indications of another spell from this date onwards. However, only in coming days it will get clear.

Conditions for 29th Jan are subject to change. There can be a further decrease in expected intensity or an increase.
