Srinagar: Police have arrested seven drug peddlers in north Kashmir and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman informed Tuesday.

He said at Pethseer Crossing in Tarzoo, one Adil Ashraf Khan, son of Muhammad Ashraf Khan of Pethseer Sopore was arrested after 248 SpasmoProxyvon Plus capsules were recovered from his possession.

Police intercepted a vehicle (JK05B-1055) with two persons on board at Chotipora Handwara and recovered 126 grams of cannabis from their possession. Both persons — Mudasir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Majeed Dar, and Danish Ahmed Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of Batkot Handwara – were arrested and the vehicle seized.

In Baramulla, at Juhama-Kanispora, a non-local identified as Arhan Khan, son of Iftikhar Khan, a resident of Gaukhana Kadim, Uttar Pradesh, at present Kanthbagh Baramulla, was arrested and 14 grams of brown sugar recovered from his possession.

At Jheel Bund Pattan, police seized a vehicle (DL10CT-1577) and arrested three persons travelling in it after 28 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their possession, police said. The accused were identified as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh of Lawaypora Srinagar; Imran Hussain Malla, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Yakhmanpora, and Mohammad Amin Waza, son of Manzoor Ahmad of Shahtulpora Sumbal.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations with regard to all these arrests.
