Commr SMC chairs introductory meeting with Municipal Officers

SRINAGAR: Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Dr Owais Ahmed today presided over an introductory meeting with all Municipal Officers to initiate discussions on forthcoming strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the city’s development and ease of living.

During the meeting, the Commissioner was briefed about each vital function of SMC viz. Urban Planning, Enforcement, building permissions, anti-encroachment, Civil/Mechanical/Drainage works, Public Health, Sanitation, Solid Waste Management, Veterinary functions, Finance, Purchase and procurement, Estates, Birth and Death Registration etc.

The commissioner passed on directions to ensure time-bound duties transparently and provide hassle-free services to the citizens.

On building permission, Commissioner SMC directed the concerned wing to facilitate building permission smoothly and issue permissions in a stipulated time so that all the citizens applying for building permissions shall abide by the law and proceed to obtain Building permissions under the law.

Similarly, on Sanitation, the chair directed officials to improve and upgrade overall Sanitation in Srinagar city and go for repairing street lights wherever required.

Moreover, to curb the encroachment activities and unauthorised constructions, the concerned wing was directed to remain vigilant and act under the law.

The meeting was attended by all the Senior Officers of the corporation.
