Dr Piyush Singla assumes charge as Administrative Secretary SED

Jammu: Dr Piyush Singla, IAS, assumed charge as the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department (SED) and wasted no time in undertaking a comprehensive review of the department’s operations. 

The review took place on January 9, 2024, at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.

During the review session, officers from the School Education Department presented a detailed overview of various aspects of the department to Dr. Piyush Singla. Discussions encompassed the department’s overall functioning, Centrally sponsored schemes, the physical and financial progress achieved under UT Capex, human resource management (HRM) challenges, and the department’s best practices and initiatives.

Administrative Secretary SED, Dr. Piyush Singla, emphasized the importance of timely completion of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs), finalization of seniority lists, and the provision of quality infrastructure for students. He urged all officers and officials to uphold principles of punctuality and discipline while ensuring the delivery of quality education.

In a bid to streamline processes and enhance efficiency, Dr. Singla issued instructions for the effective execution and implementation of several new initiatives. Notable among these are the PM SHRI, Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), Samiksha app, and the JK Attendance app.

The meeting saw the participation of key officials, including both Directors of School Education, Director of Finance SED, Special Secretaries SED, Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Joint Director of Planning, and various other officers from the School Education Department.
