Pertinently, police had in October 2023 claimed to have cracked the “blind” murder case of a Bemina woman within five days of the incident.

On October 17, 2023, police had recovered the dead body of a woman on the roadside at Durbal, Bemina, following which a case was registered at Police Station Bemina. The deceased was later identified as Tanveera, wife of Showkat Ahmad Kaloo, resident of Nundresh Colony B, Batamaloo, Srinagar.

“During investigation it was established that the woman had been murdered on October 16, 2023 at West End Colony, Hyderpora, and subsequently her dead body was shifted from Hyderpora to Durbal Bemina to divert the investigation agency,” police had said.

On the basis of technical evidence, and sustained interrogation of the suspects and subsequent recoveries, four accused persons — Abina Parveez (sister-in-law of the deceased), and wife of Parveez Ahmad Shah of West End Colony, Hyderpora; a minor female (name withheld); Ghulam Mohammad Ahanger, son of Late Haji Ghulam Hussain Ahanger of Khushipora HMT, at present Gulposh Apartment Bemina; and Jala Wadoo, wife of Ghulam Mohammad Ahanger (father and mother of accused Abina Parvez) were arrested by the police.
