Srinagar: Police have arrested seven drug peddlers including a woman drug peddler in Baramulla and Kulgam, a police spokesman informed Friday.
He said at Kralhar Baramulla, police intercepted a vehicle (JK05D-3072) with five persons including a woman on board. During the search, 45 grams of brown sugar and 345 grams of cannabis-like substance were recovered from their possession.
All the five persons identified as Sharik Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Rashid; Sharif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad; Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, and a lady, all residents of Dewan Bagh Baramulla, and Bakir Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Qayoom Rather of Chandsooma Kanispora, were arrested and a case registered in this regard.
Separately at Boniyar Market, 52 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from the possession of Mudasir Rashid Wani, son of Abdul Rashid of Gantamulla Bala. He has been arrested.
In Kulgam, at Waripora, police intercepted a vehicle (JK01M-2080) driven by one Mushtaq Ahmad Handroo, son of Abdul Aziz Handroo of Boat colony Anantnag. During the search, 3Kgs of poppy straw-like substances were recovered from the said vehicle, following which Handroo was arrested and the vehicle seized, police said.
