The locals say until now they had been using water which would flow here from Pakistan-administered-Kashmir across the Line of Control, “but this season they have stopped it for unknown reasons.”

“Every season we would use water from across the border after routine meetings between the people of two sides including the civil and military authorities, but for unknown reasons this year the flow of water  from across the border has been stopped which has resulted in shortage here,” a local resident  Zahoor Anjum said.

He said  they have already apprised both the  local civil and military authorities about the problem and are pinning hopes on them that this issue would be resolved soon.

Pertinently, each season a good chunk of land is cultivated  here in kandi villages of this hamlet which depend exclusively on the water from across the LoC and this year there are apprehensions that hundreds kanals of land would remain dry and unsown if water flow is not restored by the people on other side.

Talking to Kashmir Images Dr. Ilyas, SDM Karnah, said that he would take up the  matter with the military authorities for early redressal.

When contacted PK Mishra, the local Brigade Commander said that  he would allow the prominent persons  including Sarpanchs, Lumberdars and Chowkidars of this side to hold talks with their counterparts on the other side of the fence to help resolve this issue at the earliest.
