SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, on Monday released a subsidy component of Rs 16.0 lakh in favour of beneficiaries of self-employment schemes under SEI and Tejaswini scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Chairman of the District Level Implementation Committee(DLIC) took a detailed review of the cases sanctioned under self-employment schemes including Tejaswini and Spurring Entrepreneurship Initiative(SEI) and approved cases of beneficiaries recommended for release of subsidy for further disbursement of bank credit facility.

While reviewing the cases recommended for Tejaswini, the DC/Chairman DLIC was informed that as many as 09 new cases have been received from banks operating in Srinagar cases which have been already sanctioned by DLIC.

On the occasion, the DC accorded the approval for the release of subsidy to the tune of Rs 11.50 lakh in favour of all 09 beneficiaries of Srinagar District including Capital Subsidy of Rs 4.50 lakh and Interest Subsidy to the tune of Rs 7.0 lakh under the Tejaswini scheme.

 Similarly, the DC also released the subsidy component to the tune of Rs 4.15 lakh under the SEI scheme in favour of 07 cases of scheme beneficiaries recommended by the District Employment & Counselling Centre Srinagar for grant of the approval.

The DC while reviewing the overall progress of the self-employment schemes for the last 3 years to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the District, was informed that an amount to the tune of Rs 5.90 crore has been disbursed among 118 beneficiaries under Tejaswini and Rs 19.40 crore among 244 beneficiaries under Mumkin, while 17 cases have been sanctioned with the amount of Rs 1.18 crore under SEI in Srinagar District since the inception of the schemes in year 2021-22.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has stressed upon the nodal Departments to ensure maximum coverage of unemployed youth of the District under different Government-sponsored self-employment schemes. He also stressed on making youth self-reliant, by providing them with sustainable employment opportunities so that they become job providers rather than job seekers.

The DC underlined the objectives of providing financial assistance to youth for establishing their business units and highlighted the aim of self-employment schemes encouraging innovation and job creation through the creation of new businesses and expansion of existing businesses.

The DC also exhorted upon the Employment Department to bring more progressive entrepreneurs under the ambit of schemes like Tejaswini, Mumkin, SEI etc. by disseminating awareness so that more and more aspiring entrepreneurs are brought under such employment-oriented schemes.
