Andrabi blames Pakistan for ‘poisoning Kashmiri youth with drugs’
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: J&K Waqf Board chairperson, Dr Daraksha Andrabi Monday alleged that the neighboring country (Pakistan) has ruined the lives of the young generation in Kashmir by pushing drug consignments through its proxies.

Dr. Andrabi said the Union Territory administration is committed to eradicating the drug menace in Kashmir and that an increasing number of drug treatment facilities would be established in the region to save the lives of individuals addicted to drugs.

She claimed that a growing number of young people, both male and female, are badly involved in drug abuse in Kashmir, putting their families in a hopeless situation.

Pakistan, she alleged, is obsessed with harming the next generation with drugs. “Regrettably, Pakistan, which has never wanted the Kashmir valley to prosper, is to be blamed for the problem as a growing numbers of young people in Kashmir—both male and female—are severely addicted to drugs,” Waqf Board chairperson told reporters after inaugurating a drug de-addiction center in Srinagar.

She, however, was quick to add that any attempt aimed at spoiling the Kashmiri youth or its peaceful environment will be dealt with seriously.

Andrabi claimed that an increasing number of women in Kashmir are also struggling with drug addiction, which she claimed should be a major cause of worry for any civilized community.

“We will not let our youth die of this poisoning. We are committed to eradicate drug menace from society and this endeavor of ours will continue,” she added.

She appealed to all religious leaders and civil society groups to play their role in this direction and help the government in the fight against the drug menace.
