DGP visits injured police inspector in SKIMS ICU

Assures all possible help to his family

Srinagar: The Director General of Police, R R Swain Monday evening visited SKIMS to enquire about the health condition of police Inspector Masroor Wani who was attacked by a terrorist over a week ago in Eidgah grounds when he was playing cricket there.

The DGP was accompanied by ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra and other jurisdictional officers, police spokesperson said in a statement.

About the health condition of the injured officer, Medical Superintendent Farooq John explained that his condition is still critical and that he continues to be on life support systems.

The DGP directed that best possible treatment be given to the ailing police officer.

Swain also had a separate and long conversation with the father of the police officer and assured him that all possible help will be provided. He informed him that Home Minister Amit Shah, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) R. K Goyal and other top-ranking officers are inquiring about the health of the injured officer on a daily basis, the spokesperson said.

He said that the DGP handed over Rupees one lakh as financial assistance to the family to meet the medical expenses of the injured officer.

The DGP assured the family that the Government and Police department will provide all help including airlifting the officer outside UT for treatment if and when required.

The DGP said that the prayers of thousands of police personnel and common citizens are with family and therefore the family should have courage, the spokesperson said.
