Director Agriculture flags off beekeepers on exposure visit

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal in the presence of Director Agriculture Sikkim B.L Dahal today flagged off a group of beekeepers on an exposure visit to Manigam, Ganderbal.

Farmers will interact with scientists, progressive beekeepers, and other agri-preneurs during the visit.

The tour has been organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the National Bee and Honey Mission (NBHM).

While interacting with the beekeepers, the Director of Agriculture said that the objective of the exposure cum training visit is to make the farmers (beekeepers aware of the latest technical know-how and modern agriculture/ beekeeping practices in the field of beekeeping and adopt the same in their own bee-keeping units.

Director Agriculture Sikkim also interacted with the beekeepers and shared his experiences with them. He said this type of exposure visit always proves helpful in imparting the latest trends in the relevant field, among the concerned farmers.

The visit was organised to promote sustainable and profitable beekeeping practices among the beekeepers in the UT.

Joint Director Agriculture inputs and other concerned officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
