Srinagar: The Roll Ball Association of UT Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Wing, hosted the District Roll Ball Srinagar Championship 2023 on September 9th and 10th, 2023, at the Radpora Skating Rink (Downtown) Srinagar. Under the aegis of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, this event witnessed more than 130 enthusiastic roll ball players from various categories, including boys and girls, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.
At the concluding function of the championship, Reyaz Wani, Administrative Officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, joined by other esteemed dignitaries. The event drew a massive crowd of sports lovers and parents who eagerly watched the thrilling and exciting championship matches across all categories.
Results Highlights:
In the U/10 mixed doubles category, the boys’ team emerged victorious with a commanding score of 10:0 goals against the girls’ team.
In the U/14 boys category, the Sheikh ul Aalam team demonstrated their prowess by defeating the Mehboob ul Aalam team with a score of 16:1 goals.
The U/19 girls’ category witnessed a fierce battle, with the Jasmine team, led by Wafa Tariq, defeating the Cosmos team, captained by Qurat ul Ain, with a scoreline of 10:04 goals.
In the U/17 category, the team headed by Mujtaba Wani emerged victorious, defeating Team B, led by Baseer Aijaz, with a final score of 11:3 goals.
However, the senior team did not participate in this championship, leaving the younger players to take centre stage.
Awards and Recognitions:
The Chief Guest, Reyaz Wani, honored outstanding performers with the following awards:
Best Goal Scorer: Wafa Tariq received the Gold Medal for her remarkable achievement of scoring 22 goals in the championship.
In the U/14 category, Nowman Bazaz received the Gold Medal for his exceptional performance as the Best Goal Scorer, scoring a total of 18 goals during the championship.
The Best Goal Keeper Awards were presented to Atif Iqbal and Mohammad Fajir for their exceptional skills in safeguarding their teams’ nets.
The youngest player of the championship, Maareisha Waseem, received special recognition for her dedication and spirit.
The function concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ashraf Dijoo, the Secretary and Coach of the Roll Ball Association. The District Roll Ball Srinagar Championship 2023 left a lasting impression on both participants and spectators, highlighting the enthusiasm and talent in the roll ball community of Srinagar.
