A police official told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the incident happened around 4:30 pm today.

He said the scuffle broke out as a result of an altercation between the two sides over a trivial issue, during which the accused in a fit of rage attacked the victim with some sharp object, resulting in his on- spot death.

He said the accused was arrested shortly after the incident, while the weapon used by him to carry out the murder was also recovered on his instance.

A case (FIR No. 36 of 2023) under IPC section 302 was registered at Police Station Kothibagh in this regard and investigation was taken up.

Meanwhile, a large number of people including men and women from neighboring areas converged at the residence of the deceased, demanding harshest punishment to the accused.

“We don’t know what exactly happened but the deceased as per the locals had some heated arguments with the accused who also happens to be his friend, leading to the scuffle between the two. The deceased was stabbed multiple times until he died,” said one of the relatives of the deceased boy.
