4 drug smugglers booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Bla

Srinagar: Police have booked four “most wanted and notorious” drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

The four accused drug smugglers — Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, son of Nazar Din; Mohammad Riyaz Khanday, son of Mohammad Sharif, both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote Uri; Mohammad Hafeez Abassi, son of Abdul Rashid and Zahid Hussain Abassi, son of Sajawal Khan, both residents of Gawhalta Uri — have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu, police spokesman said.

Police also said they have arrested four drug smugglers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

At Nehalpora Checksari Pattan, 14Kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of Sartaj Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Rasool Mir of Nehalpora Checksari, following which he was arrested.

Two drug smugglers — Aijaz Ahmad Gojree, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Jalal Sahib Baramulla, and Shahid Manzoor Dar, son of Manzoor Ahmad, resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla – were arrested at Ushkara Crossing after 20 grams of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from their possession.

One Shabir Ahmad Wani, son of Jalal-ud-din Wani alias Hubba, resident of Singhpora Pattan, was arrested after 168 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.

At Adapora Crossing in Kulgam two persons on board a car (JK13C-4261) were arrested when 10.9Kgs of poppy straw-like substance, a digital scale and Rs 13,500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of narcotic trade, were recovered from the said vehicle. The duo identified as Bashir Ahmad Khar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khar of Qaimoh, and Umer Rashid Makroo, son of Abdul Rashid Makroo of Rahpora, Qaimoh were arrested.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in all these instances and further investigations initiated, police said.
