During the course of secret verification and discreet enquiries conducted on the allegations, accused dental surgeon’s complicity was established and it was found that Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan “carries a reputation of indulging in corrupt practices by managing transfers of officials after obtaining handsome amounts from them, by sheer abuse and misuse of his official position as a public servant,” spokesperson said.

Accordingly, a formal case was registered at Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu for investigation, during the course of which, searches are also conducted at his Bhatindi residence, spokesperson said.

In another case, spokesperson said a formal case was registered against Mehmood Khan, Sub-Inspector, then SHO Police Station Manjakote, Rajouri, on the basis of verification conducted into the complaint of corruption lodged against him by one Muneer Hussain, son of Panda Khan of Village Dabrote, Tehsil Manjakote, in Rajouri.

The complainant had alleged that the accused police officer, due to some old personal enmity, framed his son Mohammad Tariq in a false and frivolous case and then demanded Rs 3 lakh from him as illegal gratification for saving the life of his son.

The complainant also alleged that he could only manage Rs 2.70 lakh and handed it over to Sub-Inspector Mehmood Khan, but even after the receipt of same, the police officer presented challan against his son in the competent court.
