“Film tourism will be a major driver of growth and job creation for Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG said.

He said the UT administration had launched the new film policy, after consultation with all stakeholders, and now J&K has emerged as a favorite shooting destination for film-makers.

He also said the Union Territory is witnessing the revival of the 80s era when most of the Bollywood movies were filmed here.

“More than 300 movies were shot and today we see Jammu and Kashmir emerging as a favorite film destination. It is witnessing a revival of the 80’s era when most of the Bollywood movies were filmed here,” LG said.

Earlier, Manoj Sinha inaugurated the first day shoot of upcoming TV show ‘Pashmina’ in Srinagar and extended his best wishes to Alchemy Films, Sony SAB TV, cast and the entire team for the new show.

“I am grateful to the SAB TV and at the same time extend my best wishes to them. I think the initiative will help usher a new era of development in J&K. The new film policy will not only help boost the local economy but also increase employment opportunities for the youth,” he added.

Local talent from the UT is also the part of the TV show ‘Pashmina’ which will be filmed extensively in different locations of Jammu Kashmir over next five months.

Siddharth Malhotra and Sapna Malhotra, creators and producers of Alchemy Films Private Limited, cast and crew members of the show were present on the occasion.
