DC Sgr flags off retrofitted high-end enforcement vehicles to strengthen road safety measures

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad in the presence of the Regional Transport Officer(RTO), Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, flagged off enforcement vehicles from the premises of State Motor Garages here on Thursday to strengthen the road safety measures besides to help in smooth traffic flow.

Director State Motor Garages, Tahir Malik, ARTOs of all the Districts of Kashmir division, and other concerned were also part of the flag-off ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner hailed the initiative of RTO, Kashmir for making availability of 10 Mahindra Scorpio and 24 retrofitted high-end motorcycles with modern technology features to be deployed with Traffic Police.

While interacting with the ARTOs at the occasion, the DC stressed them to ensure the optimum use of these retrofitted vehicles and emphasized upon them to make use of vehicles on such stretches where traffic jams occur often.

The DC also hoped that the vehicles will prove helpful in redressing the traffic issues and in better traffic management. He said that it is an effort to empower Transport Offices to ensure quick and better responses in regulating vehicular movement and maintaining traffic discipline.

The DC further stressed on conducting awareness workshops in educational institutions, bus yards, and other places to sensitize students, the general public, transporters, and other stockholders. He said such programmes will help in streamlining the traffic system and develop the habit of following traffic rules, besides overcoming the rising accidents to save precious lives.
