DDC Chairperson Ganderbal inspects sports infrastructure

GANDERBAL: The Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq today toured many sports facilities of the district and inspected the newly set up and existing sports infrastructure here.

The purpose of the inspection was to assess the state of the existing sports facilities in Ganderbal and identify any areas requiring improvement.

The Chairperson DDC along with a team of officials from J&K Sports Council visited Warpoh, Bakura, Khalmulla, Malshahibagh, Beehama near the SP office, Gutlibagh, Manigam, Lar, Yenihama Watalbagh, Tullamulla, Wakura, Khanpora, Shallabugh, Zazna, Batwina and other sports grounds of the district to review the infrastructure equipment and maintenance standards.

During the inspection, the Chairperson of DDC emphasized the importance of promoting sports at the grassroots level and providing necessary facilities for the budding athletes in the district. The officials met with local sports associations and players to understand their requirements and concerns.

The team thoroughly examined the stadiums including the playgrounds, tracks, stands, changing rooms, and other amenities.

They assessed the quality of the infrastructural components such as the turf, floodlights, seating arrangements, and sanitation facilities. Any irregularities or shortcomings were noted for immediate rectification.

The chairperson also interacted with the players and enquired about their training regimes, challenges, and future aspirations. They assured the athletes/players of their commitment to enhancing the sports infrastructure and creating a conducive environment for nurturing talent.

Furthermore, the team evaluated the availability of sports equipment and whether it was in good condition. They also assessed the accessibility of the facilities for differently-abled athletes and considered the provision of inclusive infrastructure.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the DDC chairperson directed the concerned authorities to expedite the repair and maintenance work required at the stadiums. They emphasized the need for regular checks and upkeep of the facilities to ensure a conducive environment for athletes.

The chairperson also pledged to allocate additional funds from the district development budget for sports infrastructure improvement. She stressed that the development of sports facilities will not only promote fitness and healthy living but also provide opportunities for aspiring athletes to excel at the district, state, and national levels.
