Comm Secy I&C takes stock of manufacturing units of JKI in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce (I&C), Vikramjit Singh, today visited two major manufacturing units of Jammu Kashmir Industries Limited (JKI) at Rajbagh and Bemina here and took stock of the functioning of these units.

The Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Managing Director, JKI, Vikas Gupta; Deputy General Manager (P&A), Deputy General Manager (Textiles) and other senior officers of JKI.

During the visit, the Commissioner’s Secretary took a detailed round of these units and took a first-hand appraisal of their work. The visit also included an in-depth tour of the facilities, engaging interactions with the management and workforce, and discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing the two units.

He appreciated the efforts being put in by JKI management for running the units on commercial lines and directed the management to focus on the marketing verticals of the organization.

He also emphasized on the importance of providing products of superior quality and innovative design to consumers, to improve sales and customer loyalty. He stressed on manufacturing products of superior quality with innovative designs to enhance competitiveness in the market.

The Commissioner Secretary, during the visit also interacted with the workers of these units and appreciated them for rendering their services in running these units successfully.

Managing Director, JKI on the occasion briefed the Commissioner Secretary about the various operations being undertaken at the two textile units. He provided details of the various steps being taken by the Corporation to stay relevant to market needs and align designs to the latest market trends.

The Commissioner Secretary was also briefed about the efforts being made by the organization for increasing its marketing outreach through tie-ups with various e-market platforms like Flipkart and others. It was also informed during the visit that JKI has been actively utilizing the Government e-Market (GeM) to make products available on the portal to cater to the requirements of various government departments.

 

Remarkably, the Commissioner Secretary’s visit to Bemina Woollen Mills and Rajbagh Silk Factory aligns with the Government’s vision to promote and uplift the textile industry, as it plays a crucial role in the socio-economic development of the UT.
