Srinagar: A traffic cop was among three persons killed in a road accident involving multiple vehicles in Maloora area of Shalteng in Srinagar, officials said Monday.

An official at the traffic police control room said that a tipper driver, who lost control over his vehicle, crashed into a three-wheeler and a car near a petrol pump at Maloora this afternoon resulting in the death of three persons including a traffic cop (SPO) — Zahoor Ahmad Khan, resident of Pattan Baramulla.  There was no word about the identity of the other two people killed in the accident by the time this report was written.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Srinagar today in which one SPO Zahoor Ahmad Khan and a civilian lost their lives.

In a condolence message, the LG said, “Anguished by the loss of lives due to a tragic road accident in Srinagar. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. I pay my homage to SPO Sh Zahoor Ahmad Khan who lost his life in the line of duty. I have instructed the authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the bereaved families.”
