Bandipora: Dead body of a 26-year-old youth was recovered from under the Gamroo-Gundkaiser bridge near a rivulet in Bandipora Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Junaid Baba, son of Tariq Ahmad Baba, a resident of the Bagh locality.
The local police arrived at the scene and took possession of the body and later shifted it to the District Hospital for medico-legal procedures.
Initially, it was thought that Junaid may have drowned, but the visible signs of trauma and blood on his body created doubts about the cause of his death.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
