Srinagar: Police have booked six “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said six “notorious” drug smugglers — Mohammad Altaf Rather, son of late Ghulam Nabi Rather of Khaitangan; Mohammad Ramazan Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Kalantra Payeen; Abdul Qayoom Ganai, son of Late Ghulam Rasool Ganai of Trikanjan Boniyar; Abdul Qayoom Khan, son of Late Sarfaraz Khan of Baila Boniyar; Bilal Ahmad Ganai, son of Abdul Gaffar Ganai of Trikanjan Boniyar; and Adil Ahmad Budha, son of Mohammad Shafi Budha of Sher Colony Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police said that many cases were registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of Khaitangan, Kalantra, Trikanjan, Boniyar and other areas of Baramulla.
