Secretary YSS flags off vehicles with sports equipment to district units, training centres of J&K Sports Council

SRINAGAR: Secretary Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Sarmad Hafeez today flagged off vehicles carrying sports equipment to district units and training centers of J&K Sports Council from Bakshi Stadium here.

District Commissioner Srinagar, Ajaz Asad; Director Youth Services and Sports, Subash Chander Chhibber; Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull and other senior officers of the YSS department and J&K Sports Council were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarmad Hafeez said that the equipment is being dispatched to training centers and academies in the North and South parts of the Kashmir division and similar exercises shall be carried out in the Jammu division.

While referring to the directions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, he said that the administration is very closely monitoring the facilities put in place for the players across the J&K and we will not let players suffer for the want of any facility or the equipment.

Sarmad also said that sports is the best antidote to fight the evil of drugs and J&K Sports Council and DYSS are leaving no stone unturned to curb the menace. He indicated that there has been an upsurge in the demand for sports equipment across the UT as the magnitude of the sports events has increased manifold and the number of trainees in coaching centers across the UT has swelled up considerably.

District Commissioner Srinagar while divulging the details said that the weather is pleasant and almost all fields and stadiums are abuzz with the sports activities, adding that fresh equipment at these centres will boost the sports activities.

Secretary Sports Council while speaking on the occasion, expressed her gratitude to the government for lending all possible help to Sports Council for providing the world class equipment to players. She added that sports has undergone tremendous transformation in J&K.

She highlighted that the distribution of equipment is one of the steps the government has taken among many initiatives for the progress and prosperity of athletes of J&K.

Pertinently, the equipment distributed to district units and training centers of J&K Sports Council includes Boxing rink, Volleyball and Football goal posts along with nets, mechanical cricket pitch rollers, and interlocking mats as well as other related equipment.
