Agri Deptt to provide seed, seedlings of different vegetable crops all year round: Director

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited the seed multiplication farm (SMF) Harran Budgam and interacted with the staff/technical experts there. 

He also took stock of various agriculture interventions adopted by the said farm.

Addressing the staff at the farm, the Director of Agriculture expressed satisfaction and said, “We are endeavoring to provide seed/seedlings of different vegetable crops to the farming community all year round.”

He asked the concerned to put in all the efforts so that more and more seed could be produced from departmental farms.

The Director of Agriculture said that the department is committed to providing quality planting material to the farmers. He said that vegetable cultivation is now not only restricted to rural areas but is gaining popularity in urban areas as well, therefore the department has to play a big role.

Earlier, the farm manager informed the Director about various interventions that are being adopted by the technical experts during the seed/seedling production process.

Later, the Director of Agriculture visited the seed multiplication farm in Gangbugh Srinagar and inspected different blocks of the farm.

The Farm Manager gave a detailed presentation of different agricultural activities conducted at the farm.
