Srinagar: Apni Party’s Chief Spokesperson and former legislator, Javaid Hassan Baigh, led a party delegation comprising party leaders, senior workers, and some senior citizens from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to meet the party chief, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, at the party headquarters in Srinagar on Wednesday.

“The delegation included party leaders, senior workers, and senior citizens from the Baramulla district in north Kashmir. In addition to discussing specific party matters, the delegation members apprised Mr. Bukhari about pressing public issues that the local residents are facing,” a party press note issued here said.

Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the senior party leaders present in the meeting with the visiting delegation included Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Party’s Parliamentary Committee Chairman Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Provincial President, Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, and others.

One of the significant public issues emphasized by the delegation during the meeting was the deprivation of local residents of their traditional work of mining Jhelum and its tributaries. The delegation members said that the administration in Baramulla is stopping local people from mining Jehlum and its tributaries, whereas this has been their source of livelihood for centuries. However, now they are being stopped and even sometimes jailed for mining. The authorities neither allow them to continue their traditional work nor provide them with any alternative.

Also, the delegation complained about the inadequate supply of essential resources, including potable water, in many areas, and the frequent interruptions in electricity, causing hardships for domestic consumers and financial losses for business owners.

They also raised concerns about dilapidated road conditions in various areas of the district.

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari attentively listened to the delegation and provided them with the assurance that he would raise these crucial public issues with higher authorities, and would push for prompt resolutions of these matters.

In terms of party affairs, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari assigned Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir the task of visiting the district and conducting a meeting with the party cadre. The objective of this visit would be to reinforce and strengthen the party’s presence in the district.
