Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Monday called the new land allotment policy another step towards disempowering the people of J&K.

He, according to the NC spokesperson, said this while addressing a special meeting at the party headquarters today.

Party Assistant General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Ladakh Province President Qamar Ali Akhoon, Women Wing President Shameema Firdous, and Central Zone President Ali Mohammad Dar were also present on this occasion.

Sagar said that Jammu and Kashmir had been suffering from constant anxiety and uncertainty for the past 5 years. He said that peace, development, and prosperity can return here only with the restoration of what was snatched on the 5th of August, 2019.

Sagar said that during the last 5 years, Jammu and Kashmir has been brought to the brink of destruction. “Our people in Jammu, Kashmir, Chenab & Pir Panjal are being neglected at all levels. Every sector of Jammu and Kashmir is currently in decline, while the rulers and people holding high positions are making big claims of development and peace and order, but the situation at the ground level is exactly the opposite of these claims,” he said.

Addressing the meeting, Sagar expressed concerns about the government’s provision of land to the homeless and said that according to government data, land has been provided to 2711 people till July 7. He asked how it was possible to identify 2711 homeless people within a few days of the government’s announcement and what procedure and criteria were adopted for this?

Sagar said that the non-transparent policy announced by the government has greatly increased the suspicions of the people. “People of Jammu and Kashmir want full clarification from the government. Who are these two lakh families? Even if there are only five persons per family, it accounts for a population of 10 lakh,” he said.

The Additional General Secretary also addressed the functionaries on the occasion. Minority Cell Convener Jagdish Singh Azad, Provincial Secretary Advocate Shaukat Ahmad Mir, Joint Secretary Ghulam Nabi Butt, Dr. Saeed Makhdumi, Qaiser Jalali, and other officials were also present in the meeting.
