DC inaugurates T20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium Pulwama

PULWAMA, JULY 10: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today inaugurated the district-level Inter Block open T20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium Pulwama.

The tournament has been organized by District Administration Pulwama in collaboration with the Department of Youth Service & Sports (DYS&S) Pulwama.

Teams from all 11 Blocks of the district are participating in the tournament and the inaugural match was played between team Shadimarg and team Pampore.

On the occasion, Dr. Basharat interacted with the players and appreciated them for taking part in sports activities. He also hailed the services of DYS&S in providing opportunities to the local youth to spend their energies in productive works.

He said the government has taken keen interest to provide the best sports facilities to the youth of Kashmir and several playgrounds have been developed in at least every Panchayat besides constructing an indoor stadium at Rajpora and renovating and improving infra at Pulwama Stadium.

The DC assured that said more measures will be taken to involve the youth in sports activities so that they not only play it for entertainment but are trained to play professionally to make sports a career option.
