Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession, officials informed Wednesday.
They said during checking at Adijan Reshingari, police intercepted and arrested one Ruhail Ahmad Dar of Khanabal Anantnag after recovering eight grams of brown sugar-like substance from his possession.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and an investigation taken up, police said.
Meanwhile, in Baramulla, police booked a “notorious” drug smuggler — Mushtaq Ahmad Lone @Mushtaq, son of Ali Mohammad Lone of Fatehgarh Sheeri, under PIT-NDPS Act, and subsequently lodged him in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, police spokesperson informed.
