Shinde seeks land in Srinagar for ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’

Srinagar: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide land in Srinagar to set up ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’.

Shinde met Sinha in Srinagar and handed over a letter to him with the request, a statement from Shinde’s office said.

The chief minister said the Maharashtra Bhavan will help promote cultural exchange and boost the economy through tourism activities.

Shinde said it will help showcase Maharashtra’s art, culture, and food in Kashmir.

“The Chief Minister of Maharashtra requested the LG for allocation of the land in Srinagar to build ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’ to strengthen tourism, cultural exchanges and economic development,” an official spokesman said here.

He said the LG observed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Territory has “converted challenges into opportunities and J&K is now the symbol of success and prosperity”. He said UT of J&K is full of self-confidence and it is moving forward on the path to progress.

“Socio-economic growth with equity and social justice in the last four years has ensured all-round development and prosperity for all,” the LG said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Karan Singh, former Union minister and Member of Parliament also called on LG Manoj Sinha, at Raj Bhavan today, an official spokesman said.

He said Dr. Karan Singh discussed various issues of public welfare and development scenarios in Jammu Kashmir.
