Bhaderwah: Four persons were killed and one injured after their vehicle skidded off the road and rolled 300 feet down on the bank of river Chenab in Doda district on Monday, officials said.  

The mishap took place on the Batote-Kishtwar highway at Raggi nallah, they said.

Two bodies were fished out immediately and two others later while one person was rescued in injured condition and subsequently hospitalized, they added. Initially, they said, it was reported that only two persons were onboard the vehicle and later rescuers found four bodies and rescued one person in injured condition. 

Police said that a vehicle was on its way from Pul-Doda to Jammu, when the driver reportedly lost its control while overtaking another vehicle and skidded off the road and landed on the bank of Chenab after a 300-feet fall.

“Three bodies were retrieved while the injured were shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Doda. The search for a missing person is still going on,” the SSP said. 

However, the fourth body too was later retrieved.

The deceased were identified as Om Parshad (60) son of Amar Nath, his brother Ved Prakash (67), Roda Devi (52) wife of Om Prasad residents of Gajoth Bhalla and Raj Kumari (56) wife of Ram Rattan resident of Bharasu.
