Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have booked two “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act, while two others were also booked under PSA for anti-national activities, officials informed Wednesday.

Police spokesman said two “notorious” drug smugglers — Mohammad Afsar Khan alias Afsar, son of Mohammad Muzaffar Khan of Binner Baramulla, and Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Faqir Mohammad Sheikh of Sheikh Colony Khawajabagh Baramulla, were booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority & subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.

Police said many cases are registered against these drug-peddlers and they were involved in promoting drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth.

Separately, Bashir Ahmad Mir, son of Mir Zaman Mir of Dachi, and Syed Khaki Shah, son of Razak Hussain Shah of Madiyan Kamalkote, “involved in anti-national activities” have been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu, police informed.

It said many cases are registered against these persons and they were involved in anti-national activities.
