Women carry heaviest burden of lingering undemocratic rule in J&K: Tanvir Sadiq
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and In Charge Constituency Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday said that women have a key role in the establishment of a progressive and emancipated society.

He, according to the NC spokesperson, said this while addressing a women’s wing meeting at Hawal, Srinagar.

The convention was presided over by Party’s Provincial Women’s Wing President Er. Sabiya Qadri. Tanvir Sadiq was the chief guest.

On the occasion, BJP Vice President District Srinagar Sameena Ji, JKPC Corporator Umar Colony Afroza Ji, and Corporator Hawal Nazia Ashraf joined J&K National Conference.

Among others Provincial Secretary Women’s Wing Aisha Jameel, In Charge Social Media & Digital Platform Ifra Jan, Additional Spokesperson Sheikh Ovaise, YNC District President Srinagar Bilal Ganaie, Block President Mushtaq Ahmed Beigh, Corporator Nayeema Sara, Manzoor Ahmed, Youth leader Sheikh Shahid, Muhammad Ameen, Hameeda Ji, and Ruhi Ji were also present on the occasion.

Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, Tanvir said the joining will have a tremendous impact amongst not just women but all the subaltern masses.

He said that opponents of NC have miserably failed to capture the imagination of the people in Srinagar.

“They cannot turn the burning issues before our people, the crisis that threatens the very fabric of our region into votes. Our people know how valuable their trust is. The everyday formations aren’t even able to fire the imagination of not just our artisans, our traders, and our transporters but also our mothers and sisters, who our party and leadership have always stood up for as a credible voice. Our people, particularly our mothers and sisters know how big a risk it is not having NC represent them in the highest echelons of power. Our people know our work. They bear testimony to our commitment to development and welfarism,” he said.

Empowering women and harnessing their talent for nation-building has been central to the party’s policy, Tanvir said adding, “It was NC which brought women of Jammu and Kashmir into the political discourse and took upon itself to change the fate of women of J&K under its revolutionary Naya Kashmir manifesto. In the later decades also, whenever NC was in power, it left no stone unturned to transform its vision of empowering women into reality.”

Exhorting the women functionaries, Er. Sabiya Qadri said, “Women of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering from more predictable issues as a result of unemployment, household violence, dowry, destitution, and malnutrition; there has been no headway towards bolstering the socio, economic and political prospects of women. The successive governments since 2015 claimed much but on the ground, nothing was done to mitigate suffering. I am hopeful we all together can restore the lost dignity of our mothers and sisters in the manner as was envisioned by Madre Maharban.”
