Banihal, May 26: One person was killed and another critically injured after a truck carrying vegetables skidded off the road and fell into a 200-feet deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today, police said.
The truck was going to Srinagar from Jammu and on reaching Seri village in Ramban district, its driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a 200-feet gorge, a police official said.
He said a police team was deployed immediately to rescue the victims.
The team retrieved the body of a person, believed to be the truck’s driver, from the gorge, while another person was found critically injured, the official said.
The injured has been hospitalised, he said.
