Director Agriculture visits vegetable cluster Maloora

SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited vegetable cluster Maloora of Srinagar district and took stock of the agricultural activities in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture said that under the holistic agriculture development programme department is endeavoring for vertical expansion of vegetable cultivation, and in this direction, various initiatives had already been taken from January this year.

He said that the establishment of hi-tech poly-houses in all the districts of the valley is one such initiative.

The Director of Agriculture said that for the early marketing season of fresh vegetables, the department and the concerned farmers are working in a coordinated manner. He said the trials of different vegetable crops laid at different vegetable clusters are showing encouraging results.

The Director of Agriculture was accompanied by the Deputy Director of Planning, Mohammad Younis Chowdhury, and some other officers of the department.

Later, the Director of Agriculture inaugurated a one-day training programme for farmers aimed at strengthening agriculture marketing under a holistic agriculture development programme at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi. He held detailed interactive sessions with the participants of the program.
