Srinagar: Police in Handwara have arrested two fraudsters for defrauding a shopkeeper and recovered the property fraudulently gained by them, police spokesman informed Wednesday.
Sharing details, he said on April 30, Police Station Handwara received a complaint from a shopkeeper who said that two persons purchased some electronic items from his shop at Handwara market and fled from the shop without making payment.
A case (FIR No. 99/2023) was registered, and during subsequent investigations, the accused persons — Showkat Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Yousuf, and Noor Mohammad Khan, son of Wali Mohammad Khan, both residents of Zaloora Sopore, were arrested.
On their disclosure, electronic items fraudulently taken by them including one refrigerator, one washing machine, one solar panel, and one inverter battery were recovered, the spokesman said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on to ascertain the involvement of the accused persons in other criminal cases.
