Information was received about sex racket being operated from Shabir Ahmad War’s house in Reshipora area of Handwara in the north Kashmir district, a police spokesperson said.

This is the third sex racket that has been busted this month in the union territory.

The spokesperson said a raid was conducted at the house and War, his wife, a sex worker and two customers — Rayees Ahmed Lone, from Rafiabad’s Dangerpora, and Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, from Baramulla’s Binner — were arrested, the spokesperson said.

He said Rs 47,800 in cash was also recovered from the spot. A case (FIR No. 37/2023) has been registered and an investigation initiated.

On April 03, police had busted an alleged prostitution racket in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar city, and arrested two people who were running it from a rented accommodation. A day later, the house owner also was nabbed.

Police had on April 11 busted a prostitution racket in the Nowgam area of Srinagar and arrested three people and detained two customers and a sex worker.
