During the meeting, measures to ease the congestion at Srinagar International Airport were discussed threadbare. It was decided to increase baggage checking machines at the Main gate beside the provision of Electric vehicles to ferry the passengers from the Main Gate to the terminal was also envisaged.

In order to facilitate the tourists, a Police Facilitation Counter will be opened at the Airport besides a Police unit shall be established to cater to the tourists’ requirements who presently have to come to Humamah for registration of any complaint or for redressal of any grievance.

Security audit of the Airport and its surrounding premises shall be conducted jointly to neutralize any threat. Further, it will be ensured that no passenger is over-charged for any service including Taxi services.

A proposal for an extended baggage cum check-in counter in Srinagar City, preferably at Tourist Reception Centre, shall also be considered to reduce the load at the Main Gate of the Airport and to facilitate the passengers.

All these measures will help in reducing congestion besides facilitation to passengers and will lead to increased air traffic to Srinagar Airport, especially in view of the upcoming G20 visit, tourist season, and Amarnath yatra.
