SIA raids residences of two Hurriyat leaders; 4 other locations in Kashmir

Srinagar: The State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir carried out raids at six locations in central and north Kashmir parts on Tuesday morning as part of its investigation of a “terror funding” case registered at SIA.

Quoting an official, a Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir Dot Com reported that sleuths of the investigating agency with the assistance of the local police and the CRPF carried out raids at six locations. The searches were carried out in the districts of Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara, he said.

In Srinagar, the searches were carried out at the residences of two Hurriyat leaders identified as Bilal Ahmad Sidique at Rajbagh and Bashir Molvi at Aloochi-Bagh.

The searches are being carried out in a terror funding registered case under FIR no 22/2022 of police station CIK/SIA Kashmir, the official said, adding that further details of the raids will be shared later.

Meanwhile, Special Investigation unit (SIU-II) Srinagar today attached one TATA Motor vehicle and Pulsar 200 Motorcycle in a terror related case.

A police spokesman, in a statement said that continuing its crackdown on terror elements, Special Investigation unit (SIU-II) Srinagar today attached one TATA Motor vehicle bearing Registration No. JK15-2207 and Pulsar 200 Motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK13H-2452 in case FIR No. 41/2022 under section 7/25 AA Act & 13, 18, 20, 23, 39 & 39 UA (P)Act of PS Shaltang and case FIR No. 02/2023 under section 8/21 NDPS Act & 13, 18, 20, 38, 39 & 40 UA(P) Act of PS Kothibagh.

The spokesman said that the attachment orders were issued in exercise of power conferred U/S 25 read with 2 (g)( ii) UA(P) Act with the information to designated authority for confirmation.

Worth to mention here that said TATA vehicle and Motorcycle were seized by Police on 20-11-2022 and 10-01-2023 in two different occurrences. The accused persons were transporting Arms, ammunition, Cash, Posters, Heroin etc in order to support terrorist activities in the UT of J&K, said the spokesman.

“Accordingly, proceedings under section 25 UA(P) Act were initiated consequently accord of prior approval for attachment of TATA vehicle & Motor cycle was received. During investigation in both the cases, six (6) accused persons have been arrested so far and investigation with regard to the involvement of other persons is going on,” said the spokesman.
